KAMPALA – The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flagbearer for the 2021 elections has presented a blue print of his campaign strategy, days after being entrusted with leading the Opposition party in the forthcoming general polls.
Patrick Oboi Amuriat, who is the current FDC president, hailed his senior party colleague Amb. Wasswa Birigwa for “his magnanimity in accepting to step down” when the two went head-to-head for the party flag.
The Forum for Democratic Change is in discussions again with Dr Kizza Besigye to join the party presidential candidate, Mr Patrick Amuriat Oboi, on his campaign trail.
In the run up to the party nominations to select the party presidential flag bearer, several meetings were held to convince Dr Besigye to carry the FDC presidential flag in 2021, but he rejected the overture.
Mr Amuria and Mr Wasswa Biriggwa, the party chairman, eventually tussled it out for the party flag before the later pulled out on the last day.
Mr Amuriat yesterday said discussions are in advanced stages to make sure Dr Besigye joins the campaign trail to mobilise support for the party.
“We are at the advanced level to ensure that the leader of Plan B, your most reliable Dr Besigye will be in the campaign trail because he should offer a sense of responsibility,” Mr Amuriat said.
