The Judiciary has postponed the burial program of the Supreme Court Justice Stella Arach Amoko to a date that is yet to be confirmed.
According to the Chief Registrar Sarah Langa Siu, the burial will not go on as planned on June 23rd 2023,due to factors beyond their control as judiciary.
Judiciary’s Spokesperson Jamson Karemani said they have decided to call off the burial of the Judge pending resolution of the controversy surrounding her burial site.
The postponement comes at the time when the family of the deceased Arach petitioned the judiciary regarding the decision to burry her remains in Adjumani district.
Justice Amoko, who served in the Judiciary for 26 years, passed away at Nakasero Hospital aged 69.
The controversy surrounding the burial site arose after the family of her husband Ambassador Idule Amoko submitted a letter to the judiciary requesting that she be buried in Adjumani district his home area.
As a result, two parallel burial programs were issued, with one indicating Nebbi her ancestral area as the burial site and the other indicating Adjumani.
Meanwhile the children of Justice Stella Arach Amoko have petitioned the High Court Family division in Makindye seeking a court order, that the remains of their late mother be laid at Juba village, Jukia Hill Ward, Nebbi Municipality in Nebbi district as she wished in her oral will.
