Mr. Amuriat was arrested shortly after the Police blocked his rally in Gulu City.
The security forces had earlier arrested another Presidential candidate, Bobi Wine on Wednesday while campaigning in Luuka District.
In two tweets, Bobi Wine, aide said police had violently broken into the presidential candidate’s vehicle and taken him into Nalufenya custody.
Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Amuriat’s arrest came after National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential candidate Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert was earlier on violently arrested in Luuka and detained at the infamous Nalufenya detention centre in Jinja.
Meanwhile, Justice Byabakama still claims to be incharge of 2021 General ‘selections’ that he wants to refer to as Elections, FDC said.
“What else is left for the People other than ……?”
Time is now for Ugandans to liberate their Country, the party noted.
Amuriat who was campaigning in the city was rushed to Gulu Central Police Station and detained.
Later in the night, he spoke to the media shortly after he was released from Gulu Central Police Station.
The Party Secretary General Hon. NathanNandala-Mafabi, Party Chairman Amb. Wasswa Biriggwa, and Party Spokesperson Hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju will address a press conference tomorrow Thursday at Najjanankumbi at 10am.
