The Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has further remanded former Police CID Spokesperson, D/ASP Charles Mansio Twiine, and his co-accused Noah Mitala alias Noah Mutwe, to Luzira Prison until 17 June, 2025.
The duo faces eight charges, including hate speech, incitement to violence, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Prosecutors allege that Twiine used social media to incite attacks on President Museveni and General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and spread malicious claims about top leaders including Speaker Anita Among and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi, the accused applied for bail, presenting several sureties.
However, State Attorney Richard Birivumbuka requested more time to verify the sureties and facts presented, citing public holidays and office closures.
The court agreed and granted prosecution two weeks for verification, keeping the accused in custody. Both Twiine and Mitala deny the charges and maintain their innocence.
