The Director of Public Prosecutions has dropped corruption charges against three legislators previously accused of seeking bribes to influence the Uganda Human Rights Commission budget.
In a letter presented to the Anti-Corruption court, the DPP discontinued proceedings against Bunyole East MP Yusuf Mutembuli, Busiki County MP Paul Akamba and Lwengo District Woman MP Cissy Dionizia Namujju.
The trio had been facing allegations stemming from May 2024, when they were arrested on claims that they demanded a percentage payment in exchange for pushing an increased budget for the Commission.
The withdrawal comes days before the MPs seek re-election.
