NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi on Thursday said that Kibalama’s home was raided on Wednesday night by a combined force of police and UPDF personnel under unclear reasons. He was later whisked away to an unknown destination where he is currently under custody.
“Our legal team will today follow up. We want to know where he is being held and what the reasons of the detention could be,” Ssenyonyi told journalists.
“This intimidation will not stop NUP from operating. We want the security team to release Kibalama unconditionally,” he adds. He said their legal team spearheaded by Anthony Wameli and Shamim Malende will engage with the security agencies over Kibalama’s whereabouts.
Police spokesman Fred Enanga and his UPDF counterpart Brig Flavia Byekwaso were not immediately available to answer our queries on whether their soldiers arrested Kibalama.
