The fire has since destroyed several acres of moorlands and as of Monday evening 2100Hrs local time there were no signs of over 400 firefighters , a number that later increased to 600 containing the fire.
Local communities living near Mount Kilimanjaro are working hard to put a fire currently burning on Africa’s highest peak.
Both the Kilimanjaro National Park and the Tanzanian National Parks service confirmed the fire broke out late Sunday afternoon.
Tanzania’s park’s service posted a blurry photograph on its Twitter account of what appeared to be Mount Kilimanjaro with several pockets of flames burning on it, with the message:
